L’Italia frana. A sentire Erasmo D’Angelis, il Coordinatore di #italiasicura struttura di missione del governo contro il dissesto idrogeologico e per lo sviluppo delle infrastrutture idriche – sono 486.000 frane italiane delle 500.000 frane europee che pendono su oltre 20.700 kmq, il 6,9% del nostro territorio nazionale, anche densamente abitati.

L’ultima ha causato il cedimento del viadotto Himera sull’autostrada Palermo-Catania. E’ il segno della “peste ecologica” ben documentata nel libro di Giuseppe Candido che continua a diffondersi perché alla strage di diritto e all’assenza di cura del territorio non si pone freno. Così l’infrastruttura strategica dell’isola e dell’intera economia italiana rimarrà chiusa a tempo indeterminato nel tratto compreso tra Scillato e Tremonzelli.

E mentre l’Anas sta predisponendo il progetto di demolizione del viadotto, la Ragusa-Catania è stata depennata dal Def. Renzi. Nello “stato di emergenza” nazionale si riducono aliscafi e traghetti, si riprista la rotaia. Eppure quel cedimento strutturale è il sintomo e insieme il simbolo di una sfida possibile: l’occasione per fermarsi e ripensare la viabilità nazionale, i rischi sismici e la tutela dell’ambiente alla luce di un nuovo senso della praxis e d’interdipendenza tra suolo, specie, stato di diritto e sistema ecologico. Perché non è ancora troppo tardi per aprire un dibattito pubblico all’insegna della legalità e della nonviolenza, nominando finalmente un “geologo di zona” che da trent’anni chiediamo a gran voce insieme a Marco Pannella.

Himera Viaduct, Landscape of Hope

Italy is sliding down. According to Erasmo D’Angelis, the Coordinator of #italiasicura the Italian Government’s structure against the hydrogeological disarray and for the development of water infrastructure the Italian landslides amount to 486,000 of the European total of 500,000 on over 20,700 sq km or 6.9% of the country which is also densely populated. The most recent one caused the collapse of the Himera Viaduct on the Palermo-Catania motorway. This is a sign of the ” ecological plague”, well documented in the book by Giuseppe Candido, that is still continuing due to the disrespect for the law and the lack of care of the land. So the strategic infrastructure of the island and the entire Italian economy will remain indefinitely closed on the stretch between Scillato and Tremonzelli. While ANAS is preparing the project for the demolition of the Viaduct, the Ragusa-Catania motorway is crossed out from the Renzi’s DEF (Economic and Financial Document). In the National “state of emergency” the hydrofoils and ferries have been reduced but the railway reactivated. Yet this massive structural failure is the symptom and the symbol of a possiblility: The opportunity to stop and rethink the national road network, the seismic hazards and an environmental protection in the light of a new sense of praxis and interdependence between soil, differing species, the rule of law and the ecological system. It is not yet too late to open a public debate in the name of the law and nonviolence, finally appointing a “Geologist of the Zone” which for thirty years we firmly ask for along with Marco Pannella.
